Searchable Video Player Instructions

The video at left has been processed by an automatic speech-to-text interpreter so that the text of the video is available for searching and reading. The player at left is a special player designed to take advantage of this transcription.

Top Keywords Tag Cloud

The first thing to notice is the Top Keywords Spoken tag cloud below the video area. This tag cloud shows the most frequently spoken words in the video. You can click on any word and the timeline will display yellow markers showing where those words are spoken. If you then click on any of the markers the video will start playing a few seconds before that point. (Note that the video will have to download at least up to that point before you can play. If you're on a slow internet connection, there could be some delay.)

Search Box

The other feature of interest is the search box. You can type any word into the box and click Search to find where the word was spoken in the video. Similarly to the tag cloud, any occurrences of the word will be highlighted by yellow markers on the timeline. Additionally, each occurrence of the word will be shown in a table below the search box along with the spoken phrase in which it appears. You can click on any row of the table to jump to the point in the video where the phrase with the searched word is spoken. (Again, the video will have to download at least up to that point before you can play.)

Transcript

For the purposes of this demonstration the full transcript of the speech is not shown here. But you can copy and paste the full text from a transcription onto a web page so that it can be indexed by search engines.
